WINOL and Sportsweek

The last WINOL Bulletin was again very successful. The bulletins are getting better and better each week, and we need to keep improving our standards. This bulletin had over 4000 views and was the most watched bulletin in WINOL history, meaning that as more people watch the bulletin we need to ensure that our facts are correct and our packages are better than ever as our audience increases.

In the debrief we we were told that we were very organised and that we had good stories making for a good bulletin. However once again stories and captions did not match and made certain stories confusing, as the audience is unaware of whether to believe the headline or what is being spoken by the presenter.

Exterior GV's were criticised as they are only being used to cover for a lack of shots and are not interesting. A few of these GV's were also very badly burnt out and shouldn't have made it into the bulletin. However their were no buildings in the headlines and interviews were well framed and in more interesting positions.

I felt that the stories we got for this week were very good as we managed to get a celebrity and national stories as well. I felt that the presenting was very good as well and the stories and switching to the presenter was very smooth which was great work from the production team.

A few stories had natural sound at the beginning of the package which was very good, but more stories need to have natural sound as it intrigues the viewer more than the voice of a reporter. A reveal piece to camera was used in one story which made a change from the standard PTC which can become very boring.

Some stories are also not good enough because they don't have enough pictures. Also PR events should not be covered because all they do is give free advertising. Instead we should just cover the celebrity at these events and ask them questions about themselves not the event.

Sportsweek was very good again this week and we had very few problems. The Sports team are continuing to work hard and our work is continuing to be praised which is very nice to hear.
