Sportsweek- week 1

Bulletin and Sports week - 01.02.12

I thought this week went very well considering as a group it was our first attempt at the Bulletin. I think it was much better than our first attempt last year and everyone put a lot of effort in. Being the first week there were always going to be some problems technically and the packages will only get better week on week. It is easy to get disheartened when your package doesn't make it into the bulletin but there are so many weeks to go and it will make you want to strike to get that package into the bulletin. 

There were mistakes in packages that shouldn't be there however like bleached out interviews and there were a few statements which need to be avoided because they don't look that great. Interviews with quotes are much better but i know how hard it can be to get them!

I thought the stories themselves were very strong and worked well, the running order seemed correct and the presenting was good. I have to give credit to Aarran who said he would present for us at the last minute! I thought that he did very well and sport itself went well. I liked that we had an oov on Basingstoke's stadium rather than just football and Ice Hockey highlights.

I thought Sportsweek was very good and we got it out and onto the site very quickly! Everyone did very well to get their packages in on time and i though they were at a good standard. We had a few problems with dimensions that we filmed in and that did make some of the shots stretched and fuzzy which obviously doesn't look good, but now we know which dimensions we are filming in we can work on that so that our shots look crisp and in focus!

I was very happy that we managed to get highlights from the blue square Premier and i thought that the highlights were good but the interview at the end was too long and the sound levels should have been turned up by me, but this would have made the natural sound louder as well and would have seemed very odd.

Sound all in all was okay but it did change from package to package so that will be something we will have to work on. There was a black hole in one package so that really needs to be avoided! We need to make sure that all the clips are connected when we edit.  

I thought that my presenting went well for a first attempt but i will try to work on my voice so that i don't sound too cockney! And we definitely need help with our puns! All in all it was a good first attempt but obviously things can still be worked on!
