Despite not having any interviews prepared for my back up story, because i know have many contacts from the local area who i can call upon i managed to get myself an interview. I found a person who was happy to speak to me at the last minute and give their views of the story from a local perspective. At the beginning of the year i wouldn't have been able to do this and my story would have fallen through as i wouldn't have had the contacts to be able to get an interview at the last minute.
However i still needed a second interview; the council's view to balance my story. After ringing the press office many times and getting very little help, i managed to bump into The leader of the council in town talking to press about a recent award Winchester won, this was a perfect opportunity to record two different stories. Despite struggling for an interview, because i was in town and knew what the leader of the council looked like i managed to grab an interview, i was told this was a good way to get an interview as some of the best stories come from actually walking around, asking questions and gaining knowledge about the local area; this is something i have learnt and i would not say that it is luck.
The story itself wasn't fantastic as shots for a story on car parks are limited; i was obviously not allowed to film car's number plates which was very difficult in a car park! It was later suggested to me to speed shots up of cars coming into and out of the car park as it would have varied my shots.
In general this week we were advised to be careful with our GV'S, making sure that we don't identify people and also that tones need to change depending on the story, funny or pieces which are less serious need to have a less serious tone, and serious stories need to be spoken as serious. Also we need more close ups in our shots rather than just mid-shots or long shots.
