My first package in the WINOL bulletin

My first package has made it into the bulletin and i am very pleased with it; obviously there are still many improvements to be made but its a step in the right direction. I have found news reporting very difficult and i can now see the mistakes i have made by looking back on my previous packages. I know i can still improve and hopefully my next story will be a further improvement on this one! I have also included the written story.

Unemployment: Written story
Unemployment in Hampshire has risen for the 3rd month in a row, to stand at 27,325 with 30% of under 25’s now unemployed across Hampshire.
5643 people are now unemployed in Southampton, 1604 people are unemployed in Eastleigh and 945 people are unemployed in Winchester. Councillor Brian Dash who is a member of the employment in Hampshire council committee believes that the council are doing all they can he said: ‘We are all concerned about the national rise in unemployment, the council is giving 100 apprenticeship  places to young people in Hampshire... the council is concentrating on young people’
Labour councillor Jane Frankum expressed her concern at the council’s efforts to tackle unemployment.  She said to WINOL ‘My concern is the council want to help people become employed but where are these jobs coming from? There is more for the youth with apprenticeships but what about older people? There is not enough manufacturing, produce or promoting of small businesses locally’
So while there is a split opinion on how to tackle unemployment in Hampshire, the council’s budget reduction set to come into place next year is not going to help the problem, with the rise in unemployment levels remaining a concern national and locally.
