London riots

I have been watching the London riots with great interest over the last few days with concern, anger and great disappointment. The mindless violence of large gangs of people is unbelievably frustrating to watch and brings great sadness to the majority of people in the communities which are being attacked. As i live and work in South east London, I travel through these communities every day and see the normality of these places day in and day out. These riots are by mindless thugs who are out rioting and looting only to vandalize shops and destroy communities and are not linked at all to the shooting in Tottenham on Thursday. The people taking part in these riots are no more connected to 29 year old Mark Duggan than myself. The scenes I am witnessing on Sky and BBC news are shocking and resemble a war zone or a natural disaster scene, not the areas of London that i live in. Excuses for the riots are beginning to flow, and despite these areas being some of the poorest in London this cannot be used as an excuse for some of the worst violence in London in recent years. Similarly to the protests in London over higher education fees, the people taking part in these riots want to cause trouble, problems and are out to attack police and hurt, injure and destroy the lives of the innocent people who's shops and livelihoods ar being destoryed by the unbelievable and sickening violence in London. Anyone who claims an excuse for the riots need only to look at pictures of thugs looting a burnt out shop in Hackney ;they celebrate as they take the stock out of a local business, shattering the lives of the people who own that shop. How many days will it take before the British army are called to restore order, control and arrest these thugs who are taking advantage of an incident to take property which is not theirs. The only conclusion I can see  is the continued violence for a number of days followed by eventual calm; but there is no evidence to suggest that these riots will not end in the injuries or deaths of innocent people who happen to live in these areas.
