Sport blog- My Football League performers of the season!

As the season is coming to a close, I thought I would look at some of the players in the football league that have excelled this season.
Starting with League 2, the stand out player comes from the already promoted Bury. Striker Ryan Lowe is currently top scorer with 26 league goals and made the headlines for his club record braking achievement of scoring in 8 games in a row. Lowe’s career has always been in the football league, but has always managed to find the net for whichever club he has played for. Lowe is however 32, and may not be considered as a player for the future, but his experience has certainly helped Bury to promotion this season.
Craig Mackail-Smith is almost everyone’s choice for player of the season in league 1, and I certainly my stand out player of the season. With 26 league goals this season, Mackail-Smith even managed to earn a cap for Scotland; an outstanding award for the consistency this player has shown throughout his career.  The 27 year old hasn’t only just picked up the knack of scoring either; he has scored a career total of 133 goals in non league and then the football league, and since his arrival at Peterborough, he has not stopped finding the net, despite a dreadful season for the Posh in the first Championship season, ending in relegation.
Players are often based on goals, and therefore there is no surprise, when player like Lowe and Mackail-Smith are named as some of the best players in their respective league; this is not different in The Championship. The likes of Graham, Long, Holt and Bothroyd have all scored goals to propel their sides towards the Premiership; however my stand out player in The Championship this season has to go to Scott Sinclair. The tricky winger has scored 18 goals for his club this season despite the criticism he has received at his previous clubs. On loan for Chelsea, Sinclair managed to play for 7 different clubs in the space of 3 seasons, where he never really managed to make an impact. He played minimal games and scored very few goals. However since his permanent move to Swansea City at the beginning of the 2010/2011 season, Sinclair has showed why he was so highly rated in the first place, scoring and creating goals, the 22 year old has inspired his side to take up a play-off spot this season and the prospect of a place in the Premier league.
