Latest WINOL bulletin

This week’s WINOL bulletin was of vast improvement to the first one I watched. The main points were that of much better sound on all of the stories, enabling the audience to clearly hear the voices of the reporters. Also the strap lines which appear at the bottom of the screen appeared for a longer period of time which made them a lot easier to read as a result. Both of these points meant that the audience watching this bulletin would be able to grasp a much better understanding of what the stories are trying to convey.
Again however there are a few areas for improvement which include some of the editing. On the first story about cuts, on two separate occasions, the person being interviewed was cut short of what they were saying by the next piece of information the reporting had to put across, with a changing image and different sound, meaning the interview was not fully complete. Also in the studio at one point the female presenter was looking and talking to the wrong camera, before the camera eventually switched to the one she was looking at.
I liked the relation of the stories in terms of how each story seemed to follow and have a link to the previous one; starting with cuts, before moving onto the spending review. Once again I did feel that the bulletin should have finished with sport rather than an unrelated story at the end, about the bishop of Winchester. Other than this i feel that all of the stories were related to the target audience of students.
A few shot choices on a couple of the reports seemed of very little relevance with shots of benches and interviews taking place in front of a vending machine; completely unrelated to the story, which then just confused the audience and has them thinking about this rather than the message or story which is being conveyed.
Lastly the unison story reporter seemed to close to the camera and was moving around as a result of reading notes, unlike the court report  where the reporter was visibly reading notes, but stood still and far enough away from the camera. There was also an improvement from last week on the sport report as there was a lot more enthusiasm; although I’ve never seen a ‘man of the match’ award given during the news!
